              Bev Abbott’s Biography

I have been honored with selection for inclusion into Marquis’ Who’s Who in America 2000-2008 and Who's Who in American Women 2000-2007 and Who’s Who in the World 2001-2007.  I was accepted as a "Signature Member" in 2008 in the Miniature Artists of America.

At the March 2006 the Northern California Society of Art in Miniature Exhibition held at the Sierra Artist Gallery “Macaws in the Clouded Rainforest” was awarded Third Place in the Animal Division.

All four entries were accepted into “Art in Miniature” sponsored by the Vienna Arts Society, Inc. 2005.  The oil painting “Brown Bear Amble” received Honorable Mention. There were three oil paintings on exhibit at the 23rd Annual North American Miniature Art Exhibition 2006 at the Art Gallery of Fells Point with the painting “Iris Reflections” receiving Honorable Mention and in 2007 "Foggy Dawn" received a First Place in oils. There were three oil paintings on exhibit at the 22nd Annual North American Miniature Art Exhibition 2005 at the Art Gallery of Fells Point with the painting “Resting Wolf” receiving First Place in Oils.  All five entries were accepted into the 2005 Miniature Art Society of New Jersey Art Show held at the World Fine Art Gallery in New York, N. Y. and received the Award of Merit for exceptional ability and achieved outstanding recognition in Art of Miniature Painting/Oil.

All three entries were accepted for exhibit at the  Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers Society of Washington, D.C. for the 2007, 2006, 2005 and 2004 show at the Strathmore Hall Arts Center, N. Bethesda, MD.  The oil painting “Evening Encounter” was exhibited in the 2004 Hampton Bay Days Art Show held at The Charles H. Taylor Art Center, Hampton, VA.

All five entries were accepted for the 2006 International Florida Miniature Art Show with “Pair of Rhino’s Sleeping” receiving an Award of Merit.  The miniature painting “Swimming Polar Bear” received third place in the animal and bird category in the 2004 International Florida Miniature Art Show.  The World Federation of Miniaturists sponsored an international show at The Smithsonian Institute in June 2004 where I had two miniature paintings on exhibit.  In 2008, three miniatures will be on exhibit in Tasmania, Australia sponsored by the World Federation of Miniaturists.  Ten of my miniatures were accepted for exhibit at the Paper Mill International Miniature Art Exhibition in 2004 and 2005 with “Future Greatness-colt” receiving an Award of Merit in 2005.

I was selected to be the Featured Artist at The Virginia Living Museum’s Wildlife Art Festival January 18 & 19, 2003 in Newport News, VA.  Four paintings were juried into the Twenty-eighth Annual International Miniature Art Show for the Jan. 19-Feb.2, 2003 exhibit held at the Gulf Coast Museum of Art, Largo, FL.   You may view additional examples of my art on internet addresses – at www.seasideart.com (art gallery), and artist-registry.stanford.edu.  Each site contains different subject matter for your enjoyment.

In 2004, the book “Paw Prints through the Years” was published with full color reproductions of my oil or acrylic paintings of Papillons featured in the short stories as well as a full color dust cover. In 2000, I illustrated “Pawprints on My Heart” a book of pet short stories written by 22 different authors and published by Astra Publishers. Each story is decorated with one or two pen and ink drawings pertaining to the animals in the stories.  The full color dust jacket is from an original oil painting of three Papillons pups and their mother.
